Labor Day Weekend...

We spent the weekend in Gillette with my adoptive mother-"Granny" as Simret knows her. We had Simret's first celebration for her 1st birthday on Saturday with the"Gillette family"; we will celebrate it for a second time this Saturday, so that all of her friends (the "Laramie family") will be there. We are hoping to get together with my biological family as well sometime this weekend. I will post pictures of her 1st celebration soon...

I just found out about this charity (thanks to Jocelyn) and wanted to post this link before her birthday this weekend: http://www.charitywater.org/birthdays/intro/trailer.html?MID=16

I wish that I would have known about this site before her first party...as I would rather have had my family donate to this organization as opposed to giving her presents. So, please take the time to look at this website and help in anyway you can, and if you are going to join us to celebrate Simret's 1st birthday on September 6th at 6:00pm...the greatest gift you could give to Simret is water to Ethiopia (you can also click on the following site: http://www.charitywater.org/birthdays/fundraiser/sept/view/1445 to donate in Simret's name).
On our journey through Southern Ethiopia we experienced this 1st hand. Small children running up to our vehicle asking for water...or seeing them drink from the dirty water that they bathed in.

Simret also learned how to walk this weekend!
