Wishing for an Endless Summer

This post is crazy long - I have been horrible about keeping this blog up to date lately. I guess I have been a bit busy with the girls. Things finally feel like they are settling in a little - don't get me wrong - we have a LONG way to go. That being said - the girls are really starting to enjoy one another in between their battles. I have to admit that I'm a bit overwhelmed from time to time throughout the day - when I'm caring for both of them. My time with Makeda (when Simret is at daycare) is AMAZING! She has so much to teach me about herself and about life. I'm so fortunate to have had the opportunity to stay home with her during the summer! We have had lots of adventures together already as a family and look forward to many more. Can you believe that it has already been 5 weeks?
Our sweet friends made this banner for Makeda while we were in Ethiopia (they made a similar one for Simret). We have the best friends in the world!!!

crazy picture Makeda took of me?
Lance and Makeda fixing stuff

Yup potty (shinti) - must have looked like a good place to go to the bathroom? She was surprised to see someone start a fire in it later.

playing in the pool at home.

pictures of our front yard- almost done! I almost have a fence.

Makeda's favorite place to Shinti (potty). The girl has some skills - not one drop on her shoes or clothing ever.

still the front yard.
the gate going into the side yard (or the "naked room" as Lance likes to call it.

fire pit in the front yard.
"the naked" room under construction.
the water feature in the front yard.
my soul mate.
my Mama "Granny"

Yes those are moon boots?
Ty and Makeda

Makeda and Mebbie.
the girls mountain biking at Happy Jack - melts my heart.
More "Shinti"
Simret's turn - she doesn't quite get it - Makeda laughed at her as she urinated all over the rock, her underwear, and her shoe. Makeda has some schooling to offer Simret in this area.
Mountain biking at Curt Gowdy State Park.

The girls biking- Makeda wearing a scarf on this ride.

interesting picture of the dirt
Makeda LOVES her bike and brings it in every night - after she cleans it with a wet-wipe and even covers it with a blanket some nights before bed - a girl after my own heart!
mountain bike tragedy
Lars drinking something for pain, while Lance stitches him up. Crazy scene to walk up on I'm sure.

Simret watching herself in the mirror - Yup I'm in trouble with these two.

Your girls are beautiful! Looks like they are starting to really settle in as sisters and soon I bet best friends though I'm sure they're a handful at times. (LOVE the Dove wrapper...it's no fun being well behaved anyway!)
