Snow day, cookies, & funny faces

For the last couple of years when Summer has ended I make a resolution...I guess it is more of a promise to myself to make a huge effort to embrace the coming Winter. It's sad to say that I fail miserably each year. I have done some introspection and have decided that it is because I don't have an outdoor sport that I enjoy in the Winter like I do when the weather is nice. However, it is not for a lack of trying to find that perfect winter sport. I have tried down hill skiing, snowboarding, and Nordic skiing and I am equally bad at each. I have be successful at cross-country skiing and snowshoeing...but have found both to be not very exciting or as cardiovascular as I would like for a daily activity. So what is a girl to do, besides completely loath a season that lasts about 7 months...move (which sounds like the best solution when it is negative 17 degrees-as it was one day this week). I haven't completely given up yet, this year I'm going to try again to embrace the season that makes me shiver. I have taken a few Nordic/skate skiing lessons from a friend and have actually started to enjoy the sport. So, we will see....

Below is a picture of us enjoying recent snow day at Happy Jack.
Lance skiing with Simret enjoying a ride in the sled.
napping 15 minutes into the trail.
another picture of them skiing- notice I'm getting good enough at skiing to get a head of them to take a picture. Last year I had to take pictures before we started skiing or I'd fall over.
Simret enjoying a cookie on the way home after a fun day on the mountain.
Later that day... making funny faces with Daddy...
so silly... wine helps.
more fun with Dad...
A perfect ending to an amazing day...coloring with Daddy.

I have another solution to this winter dilemma... vacation... to a warm place at least once a winter and twice would be twice as nice. Tomorrow we (Lance, Simret, & I) leave for a two week Holiday together in Costa Rica. An interesting thing to think about is that the temperature in Costa Rica will be 80-90 degrees higher than it is here right now.
