Bluegrass Festival

Last weekend was Simret's 1st music festival. We went to the Telluride Bluegrass Festival with our friends Jen, Lars, and Hannah. It was a four day festival, which included camping out each night at the venue. To be honest, I was a little nervous about sleeping in a tent with Simret; as she has never done this before. It also drops to the low 40s at night; as the altitude there is over 8 thousand feet. There was no need to worry...she did great! We just bundled her up at night-3 layers and a hat (kind of like they dress them in Ethiopia when it is 70 degrees).

Her and Hannah had a great time playing with the musical instruments that Jen brought. They both didn't nap as much as usually; too busy partying with the other kids there. The sweetest thing, was when Simret fell asleep in my arms while I was dancing with her...she was just so tired that she couldn't last any longer?

It was nice for the parents as well; as we took turns mountain biking in the morning before the music started. The boys would go out first and then us girls would go. They were beautiful rides with waterfalls and amazing views of the boxed cannon. I will post these pictures when Jen gets me a copy (hint...hint).

Anyway, here are a few pictures of my little butterfly and her best friend Hannah.
Day 1~

Jen and the girls....Simret and her best friend Hannah playing their musical instruments.
Simret composing her first song...
Hannah stealing her Mama's glass of champagne while Simret cheers her on!
Simret with her Daddy and with Lars.
The girls and their shades...
Simret looking at the schedule trying to figure out what band is playing next?
One of the ONLY naps that Hannah took...she was too busy partying, composing music, and having fun!
Day 2~
Here are a few pictures of the second morning in Telluride...before my camera ran out of batteries...
Hannah getting down...
The girls lounging in their lawn chairs enjoying the music...
Simret playing (or eating) the maracas...Hannah critiquing Simret's technique.
...still playing...
I will post more pictures when I get them from Jen...as there are so many more good times that I did not photograph; my camera's batteries ran out after the morning of the second day we were there.

"Simret's Smile" should be the name of a song. I'll bet you could even write it! I love the picture of her 'reading' the schedule... she's SO smart!

Beauty and Brains... watch out!

Love to all...

As the true story/history says ‘The Egyptian civilization was the advanced and extended form of the Ethiopian civilization.’
Simret's look matches exactly the same how the pharaohs' and high rankers' children looked like in Gebet (Amharic- to Egypt)at the time.
Your daughter is beautiful and smart. Who knows one day she could become the queen of the world with outstanding actions.
