February 19, 2007 We are back...

We made it back to the States two days ago and are still having some time adjusting to the time change and getting over jet lag. I had to work a full day yesterday, while Lance took care of Simret, and felt like I was in a fog all day. She had her first doctor's appointment yesterday. He said that she was developmentally on target; which is wonderful. She also has bilateral ear infections and probably has a parasite in her GI system; as she has had diarrhea since we have met. So, we did stool studies and should find out next week what little organism has made a home in her belly. She is 15 1/2 pounds -55%, 26 1/2 inches-90%, and 75% head circumference.

Our trip home was LONG to say the least. We missed our last flight; due to mechanical issues on the flight before and had to rent a car in order to get the rest of the way home. So, total journey home was about 35 hours. Simret was amazing and never really cried; and trust me there were about 3 times that I thought that I was on the verge of crying myself. Anyway, we did make it home...and that is all that matters.

I will write about our journey to Ethiopia to meet Simret and visit her homeland later this week. I will also attach some pictures of our trip south. I now need to nap; as she just fell asleep.

Cheers until then...
