Court Wednesday (8.20.2008)...

Tomorrow we go to court to readopt Simret at 8:40. I am excited to get her new birth certificate! It will make me feel much better when traveling; especially out of country. I would like to start planning a trip back to Ethiopia some time next year. I just need to find the right organization; that could utilize our skills. Anyone have any suggestions? I thought about contacting the Village of Hope to see if they could use our help in one of their clinics? It doesn't necessarily have to be medical...

Does anyone know the next step after I get her birth certificate? Do I get her social security number or do have to get a C.O.C? Or how does that work?

Jill,
Operation Smile that fixes children with cleft lip and palettes for free makes regular trips to Ethiopia and nurses and especially anesthesiologists are always in need. They will be there next June. Just a thought!

Jocelyn,
I cannot believe that you don't know what is next; after the birth certificate? You are may main source of information about the process...who do I look to know? Rather disappointing :)
I guess I will have to contact our agency...which could be painful?
Maybe you should post the question on your blog, and maybe one of the thousand viewers will know what to do?
-but seriously...I do appreciate all of your knowledge you have shared during this journey.
-miss you guys

I obviously have no idea. We aren't there yet :(
But, CONGRATULATIONS! That's very exciting stuff! Please let me know how it went...
I am still trying to figure out when to return and what I want to do. Operation Smile and The Smile Train are great options (I don't have enough cleft palate experience yet, but would love to participate in a few years). Next trip, I want to work with children without parents, let me know what you find/think. It would be amazing to go together.
All our love,
Danni and Judah
