I haven't updated this blog in some time, so here goes...
Not much is going these days- just cursing the change in weather (snow) and preparing for our new daughter to join our lives. So, tomorrow is our court date to adopt Makeda in Ethiopia. If we pass tomorrow then she officially becomes our daughter! For those of you unfamiliar with the Ethiopian court process, there is a high likelihood that we will not pass the first nor the third time (for ridiculous reasons that I have a hard time understanding- the number one reason being that a government official doesn't write this "special" letter that has to be part of each and every adoption that takes place- because they were on vacation, at a conference, or just "forgot". Seems to me like that letter would be in place before you were even assigned a court date...but who am I to say how things should be ran there? I'm sure there is a good reason -that I'm not aware of- why the timing of the letter is when it is). Anyway, tomorrow is our 1st attempt and hopefully our last at the court- I'm not sure if my heart could handle it being rescheduled right now... nor could my body at this point- it seems like the closer we get to bringing her home- the more dramatic my hair gets or I consider another tattoo or piercing (which is already scheduled with one of my best girlfriends for next Friday). So, please send us positive energy that we pass tomorrow...
In the meantime, Simret is keeping me on my toes. I think she ready for her sister to come home as well. One of her favorite movies right now is Princess Frog. She tells me that she wants "to be a waitress like the Princess in the movie". She also has learned to wish on stars from that movie. Her wish is always the same, "Mama my wish is for Makeda". Sometimes she will add "that she is happy". She is such a sweet, sweet girl that often melts my heart by her innocent words of love and well wishes.

Daddy teaching her to cast a fishing rod- important life lesson!
Easter pictures with her buddies. Mebbie found the golden egg. It was the only one that didn't have chocolate in it- instead it had 1 birr (Ethiopia's currency).

Lance putting together Makeda's room (he just finished building her bed and was assembling her wardrobe closet).
