February 10.2008 (Journal Entry) Jinka-Addia

Today we woke early to catch our flight back to Addis. We must arrive at the airport 2 hours early-which I didn't understand until later. They went through every bag, by hand. They go through everything so thoroughly that you end up having to repack all of your bags. But, wouldn't you know it-the plane was delayed in Addis. We have no communication with Addis, as the power is out here, so we do not know the reason for the delay. I pray that we get out of here today. I am starting to get anxious again. I would like to get tonight; as we are suppose to meet Simret tomorrow. I need to relax some. So, I am off to send positive energy to the plane in Addis and try to center myself. Until later....

Up date...our flight should arrive at noon (4 hours later)-this is a relief...I don't care when we leave today...just that we leave-happy again-but still a little anxious. I will feel better when we get there.

We did get on the plane, about 5 hours later than expected. The plane ride was only about 40 minutes. I am not sure what the training is to be a pilot...but I have never in my life been on a bumpier ride-I now understand the need for seat belts in a plane-so your head doesn't hit the roof. I felt like we were in a boat rather than a plane. So yes, you have guessed it...I am extremely nauseous again. I hope to land before vomiting or that I can make it to the bathroom in time. Like I said, our flight is only 40 minutes and we have been already been fed 2 times-it is extremely interesting how food is tied to class here-I guess it makes sense. By the way, our flight attendant's name is Simret (the first time that I have seen or heard her name since being here) -synchronicity.
