Since our family would be considered more spiritual than religious & we have a deep respect for Mother Earth...we have decided the last couple of years to celebrate the Winter Solstice instead of Christmas (although I am quite sure we will end up celebrating all the holidays this season (Christmas, Hanukkah, etc). This year we had dinner with some good friends. Simret also got her ears pierced in celebration. She looks so much older to me (which makes me want to take them out; as it makes me sad that she is growing up too fast), but at the same time they are so adorable on her...she will no longer be mistaken for a boy.
Lance & Simret enjoying an icicle that was stuck to one of our pine trees in the backyard.
20 minutes after we pierced her ears...
she is learning to hold her breath in swim lessons & loves to practice in the bath.
she might not appreciate this picture someday?
Solstice celebration...she is wearing her Ethiopian dress.
The dog just stole her cookie... or
maybe she just found out that Santa isn't coming this year because her parents are hippies & celebrate the solstice instead?
