Gifts...

Family & Friends,

Instead of buying any of us Christmas presents this year (including Simret), our family would prefer that you give to one of the following organizations:

Children's House International-please specify that you want the donations to go to the Thomas Center (this is the "orphanage" that Simret stayed at for the first 5 months of her life...where she was taken excellent care of. We are truly thankful that she was there; instead of any alternative...the nannies and the director are a blessing).

This charity was developed by a guy that wanted to help out with the water situation in Ethiopia...or should I say, the lack of available clean water situation in Ethiopia. You can read the website...but this guy has drilled multiple wells in Ethiopia...providing the people there with clean water. When we traveled in the southern region of Ethiopia we experienced first hand how devastating the water situation was. There were children of all ages running up to our car, not asking for money, but for water. It broke my heart...there are stories of children getting ran over, while asking for water? So, Simret and our family would be honored if you would give the gift of water to Ethiopia (you can even do it in Simret's name).

We are so blessed with an over abundance. I'm sure Simret will not even miss what is such a vital gift to her homeland. A great sacrifice. One of most memorable Christmas' experiences was when my single mom, always very money cautious purchased me and my brother several gifts and wrapped them and put them under the tree. Three days before Christmas our house was broken into and many of the gifts were stolen. So for Christmas, we all made each other gifts. Of course she did buy us everything at the after Christmas sale! After all we were kids lol. But it was a good Christmas because we had to think about the gifts!!

Happy holidays,

Robbin
