I am hopeful that today we will at least get updated pictures, height, & weight from our agency. Our coordinator is in Ethiopia for the next week. I am of course, jealous! Our agency wrote a letter to all of us waiting that she is hopefully that there will be some court dates issued at the beginning of this week. I am not usually the optimist...as you all know, but for some reason I think that we are going to a court date before we expected. I figure that good-karma should be coming our way sometime soon! I will keep you all posted.
We are also thinking of changing her name. Her given name is Simret X. I am not sure who gave her that name, the police that found her or the orphanage. However, it seems that as time goes on, that we should call her this for her first name? Simret. It is beautiful and unique. It means "accomplished" in Amharic. I am not sure what her middle name would be? We have thought of Jaydn, J'Laine, or Aurora.
My mother thinks that Aurora is a witch's name. Where she gets this stuff from I have no idea? I have a good friend named Aurora and fell in love with her name and her the moment I met her. To me it is a name that symbolizes a connection to nature, a free spirit, a radiant energy, a beautiful person. In Latin Aurora means "dawn". Aurora was also the Roman goddess of the sunrise. Also, if I remember right Aurora was the princess in some versions of the Sleeping Beauty; not a witch. I am still confused as to what witch she is speaking of...not that it maters.
J'Laine is my middle name; and since I am a liberal feminist and didn't take my husband's last name...it would give Simret a name from both of us (as her last name will be Proctor...in case you all were wondering).
Jaydn has no real significant meaning; except that it was the one name that my mother and I actually agreed upon. It was strange, one night about three months ago I had a dream that her name was Jaydn. I woke up the next morning and told Lance about my dream and he loved the name as well. That same afternoon my mother called and said "how about Jaydn". It seemed like synchronicity and you know me and synchronicity!
What do you all think? Lance would just like for me to stop changing my mind. I think that his vote is for Simret J'Laine...but that changes often as well?

I'm so happy that you finally have a blog. I love her "crib." What is the name of the company you bought it from? Looks super comfy cozy. I wish I would have known about them before I bought Jude his crib.
Today is tough work. How much longer do we have to wait? Oh, and I like all three names...I'm with you though, Aurora is special. Not witchy at all!
Thanks Danielle! The crib is called a Happy Hang Up. Their website is: http://www.happyhangup.com/. I liked the idea of being able to hang her bed around the house; we have a hook over our bed as well. It also comes with a stand so that you can take her bed with you on trips. I hope she likes it!
The wait was definately hard today. I just got off of work; and probably have checked my email 1,000 times today, hoping for good news. But, there was of course no news! I am not too sure if I will be able to make it through the week; it has definately been the hardest so far. I just have this feeling though, that we will all get good news this week!
Tomorrow is Simret's birthday...she will be 3 months old!
readin your post and your mention of synchronicity and i instantly thought "that is it"... jaydn. all your dreams that have brought you to this point, and then your mom thinkin it would be a great name on the very same day --- it is meant to be.
maybe you could add an apostrophe to her name like j'laine. where the two consaunants (sp?) are, ya know, like jayd'n.
on another note, i am truly touched about considerin aurora. i was named after the "aurora borealis" which my mom saw with my popi when she was pregnant with me. she had originally wanted to call me amber but my dad didn't want me to be named after petrified tree resin. anyway, you are correct, aurora is sleeping beauties name in the book, and in greek mythology, the goddess of dawn.
love you!
